The team met on 3 Dec 03 to discuss how the ACPAC funds of approximately $30,000 per year should be administered. The team makes the following recommendations: 1. Create the ACPAC Funds Review Subcommittee should be configured as a standing subcommittee membership should include: ACPAC Co-chairs, ACPAC representative from the Provost's office,ACPAC representative from the IDC, 2 additional ACPAC faculty members, an appropriate representative of the research and grant-seeking constituency subcommittee should determine the specific procedures used to submit proposal process should bewidely advertised subcommittee should review proposals and make recommendations for purchasesto ACPAC 2. Adopt the following criteria for use of the ACPAC funds: may be used for hardware, software, or other technology-related purchases technology must apply to the academic mission technology must have university-wide application or broad usage across campus primary emphasis isto support innovation technology in support of research and grant writing should be considered preference should be given to purchases that cannot be funded withTechnology Fee or ESF funds (note: examples of possible purchases discussed by the action team include: SPSS data entry, grant-related subscription services, subscription to advanced training opportunities, products like Respondus to assist with WebCT use, etc.) 3. Establish the Evaluation Action Team The Evaluation Action Team willreview theeffectiveness and suitability of purchases made with ACPAC funds. Current need is to evaluate Respondus and Deepfreeze purchases. Seeking feedback from the university communitywill also increase visibility of this ACPAC initiative. 4. Fund therequest from theStudent Computing Action Team The action team recommends that up to $500 be awarded to the Student Computing Action Team to encourage responses to the student survey scheduled for the spring semester. 5. Disband Funds Action Team If the previous recommendations are accepted, it is recommended the Funds Action Team be disbanded.
