Recommendations for acquisition of these tools will be forwarded to ACPAC for review. Upon approval, ACPAC will forward these requests to the School of Graduate Studies and Research. The following is a list of the Action Teams membership: Christoph Maier Dawn Woodland Dennis Giever Holly Branthoover Jerrold Welsh Lloyd Onyett Lynnan Mocek Michele Schwietz After a careful review of a large number of qualitative software packages, which included software demos, product testing, an on-line survey of faculty, administrators and graduate students, the Qualitative Research Tools Action Team makes the following recommendations to ACPAC which should be forwarded to the School of Graduate Studies and Research: IUP should adopt NVivo 8.0 as the supported qualitative software package for campus. IUP should negotiate with purchasing for a sole source contract with QSR International to purchase NVivo 8.0. IUP should adopt a first year roll out process and a yearly evaluation process to insure that the supply of NVivo 8.0 meets the demand on campus. During the first year roll out we recommend that IUP purchases a three year license for 100 users at a price of $135.00 per license per year. Additional licenses can be purchased as (if) needed. A substantial price break will occur when (if) we purchase 200 or more copies of the software. The public teaching lab in Stabley Library will be outfitted with the software at each workstation including the instructors station. Departments, faculty and students wishing to obtain a licensed copy of the software will be required to pay a $35.00 license fee per year. Faculty who have a desktop computer and who wish to have a shadow license of NVivo 8.0 on a home PC or laptop can do so at no additional cost.
