David Wachob, professor and chair of the Career and Wellness Education Department, recently visited the Saint Francis International School in Rome, Italy, to secure a student teaching agreement for IUP students. Starting in fall 2025, teacher education majors will be able to complete part of their student teaching semester in Rome after finishing a placement in Pennsylvania.
The school was selected based on its history, location to resources, and academic achievements. Located on a beautiful campus just north of Rome city center, the school provides many opportunities and accommodations for IUP students.
The is a long-standing member of the Rome International Schools’ Association, representing the best international schools in the region. They provide a blended American and International curriculum to their students, who represent a wide range of nationalities.
Wachob has been working to build international opportunities for teacher education majors. The goal is to partner with a few select schools around the world to build lasting relationships where IUP students can participate in safe, unique, and memorable experiences. Students can currently select a student teaching placement in either Rome or Puerto Rico.
