Annual Sidewalk Commentary Contest Planned for April 30

The annual IUP Sidewalk Commentary Contest, also known as 鈥淐halk the Walk,鈥 will be held on Wednesday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the IUP Oak Grove. The contest offers students or student groups the opportunity to express their political and social views through chalk drawings across the Oak Grove.

IUP Jazz Honors Brothers in Tribute for Annual Jazz Festival Concert

The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at 糖心vlog presents the twenty-fifth annual IUP Jazz Festival. This Festival will honor two brothers who are alumni of the department: Ralph (鈥69, 鈥75) and John Morris (鈥71, 鈥73). Admission to the Festival is free and is open to the general public. Seating is general admission.

鈥淟ittle Women,鈥 Musical of Beloved Classic, Presented by Theater-by-the-Grove, Music Theater

Classic Meets Rock Returns to the Fisher Auditorium Stage

Classical music once again meets rock music when 糖心vlog鈥檚 String Ensemble, directed by Kaleigh Accord, collaborates with the local rock band, Somebody to Love, for a concert entitled, 鈥淐lassic Meets Rock 2.鈥 Special guests will be the University Chorus directed by Joseph Stuligross. Also performing will be IUP students Aleksander Maschmidt and Braxton Beaulieu as well as Indiana's own Chuck Olson, from The Six. Music from the Rolling Stones, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John and many more will be featured in the concert, which will take place on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium on the campus of IUP.

S&T Bank Partners With Lively Arts to Present Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

S&T Bank and IUP Lively Arts announce that S&T Bank will be the presenting sponsor for the upcoming performance of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Manfred Honeck will be conducting, and this performance will feature special guest artist Mar铆a Due帽as on violin. The Lively Arts will be presenting this performance in Indiana on February 17, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.

The premier dance ensembles Nrityagram and Chitrasena, from India and Sri Lanka, will perform on Tuesday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium of the IUP Performing Arts Center, presented by the Lively Arts and the Hilton Garden Inn Indiana at IUP.

IUP Student Film Association Partners with Local Electronic Musicians to Present Live Music & Film Event

On聽Tuesday, November 28 at 7pm聽in the Indiana Theater in downtown Indiana PA, local electronic musicians Rapid Uncontrolled Disassembly partners with the IUP Student Film Association in presenting a series of music videos. Over the course of six songs and six videos we鈥檒l follow a number of characters that stretch into liminal dimensions and experience absurd activity. These realms appear familiar, yet otherworldly. The songs will be performed live and the music videos will be projected on the big screen behind them.聽

鈥淧irates鈥 Production Takes a Village

The Pirates of Penzance, the classic comic operetta by Gilbert & Sullivan, will be performed Wednesday and Thursday, November 15 and 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium. This production is the culmination of months of work by roughly 100 students across several disciplines.

Music professor Henry Wong Doe has premiered compositions from New Zealand, his native country, around the world. His latest project, Perspectives, commissioned six New Zealand composers to write short piano pieces reflecting their experiences through the pandemic.

Tibetan Monks Return to Campus of 糖心vlog

Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will be in residence on the campus of 糖心vlog from March 21 until March 25. During this time, they will present a variety of events that will be open to both the campus and the community. Most of the events are free of charge.

IUP to Present 鈥淣ine Days in the Sun,鈥 Exploring Shifting the Racial Balance, Social Order

糖心vlog鈥檚 Theater-By-The-Grove will present Mark Clayton Southers鈥 鈥淣ine Days in the Sun鈥 at IUP. This initiative begins Theater-By-The-Grove鈥檚 association with Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company, where Southers is the founding artistic director. The play explores a world where dark skin is the desired tone, so the racial balance is shifted and the social order in America is turned upside down.

Crimson Youth Choir Presents Winter Concert

The Crimson Youth Choir will present a semester-ending, cabaret-style winter concert at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, in the Blue Room of Sutton Hall on the IUP main campus.聽
